Mayor Gordon Oliver was at the Knowle along with our group to promote the new Torbays buzzing project which being funded by £28,000 from the Heritage lottery fund and £20,000 from Torbay council.

Compost sorting and more planting

Clearing compost heap ad 6 other grass piles left by Contractor, planting 2 red hot pokers in Bed 2, 2 Piraeus bushes, I Skimea and

1 hardy fuschia in Bed 3. Planting 6 Kilos of mixed daffodils and narcissi in beds 1,2 and 3

7 members of the group performed a site audit picking out each individual species and catalogging it so we know what we're working with to start paving the way to a proper wildflower meadow.

Planting party

At the Work Party undertaken on 12th April 38 Primroses and 6 Buddleia cuttings assorted cyclamen, violets and ferns had been planted in two of the beds by the Changing Rooms. In addition 11 established 4ltr Buddleia had been put in along the east side of park by benches. These are being kept clear of nettles and will be marked to ensure they were not strimmed.

Cleaning around the changing rooms

FoSK has cleared the pathway leading down the side of the building and the large area behind including the inner hedgerow. Ivy and overgrowth has been stripped off the building itself. 

A large quantity of debris, rubble, glass and metal was removed from the site. During the cleanup two former flower beds were discovered which we intend to develop further with indigenous wild bulbs and primrose.
